After Easter Check-in - Group + Designer Notes #5 (18/4)

13:59

Tuesday 18th April - first day back in college after Easter
(Ellie wasn't in, so the group meeting was just with Harriette.)

In the meeting, we checked in with each other where we are up to. I've finished flat tacking and have made the tie, Harriette needs to finish printing next Friday. Harriette asked for advice on whether to back or just line her dress, and whether to line it how shop-bought dresses are where the lining is not attached to the hem of the skirt.

Looking at her fabric, we decided she definitely needs to back it as the fabric is very light and quite sheer, and lining will make it easier for the actor to slip on in a quick change. The lining should be attached or bagged out at the hem so that the actor can put it on easily (so they can't try to put it on wrong/miss the head hole). Also for Harriette's dress, with Marie, we agreed on spiral, open-ended zips that are stronger and heavier than dressmaking zips, to be more durable and withstand quick change dressing.

A quick note from Fiona was that the linings need to be very bright colours. Harriette and I then looked at lining fabrics online so our colours would be the same level of bright and match on stage, so I have now ordered mine.
