Clockwork Tech Week (15-17/5)
11:08Monday to Wednesday was tech week at Marjon.
Monday - studio rehearsals
Tuesday - tech rehearsal
Wednesday - dress rehearsal
On the Monday, we got to Marjon to start work at 9am, and stayed to about 8:30pm. As actors had time between their parts in rehearsals, we checked the final fit of the costumes. Luckily, the vast majority fit; only Alex's overalls needed a lot of alteration, and there were a few things like moving the poppers on Dim's kilt.
There was immediately a list on the wall of little jobs, that were all quite small and manageable. I found it a lot calmer than some other tech weeks I've been at, but maybe helped by how many of us there are, as the list didn't build up too much. Though calm, it was still busy all day and I can't really remember all the tasks I did off the list, it was sort of a blur by the end of the day. A few I remember are appliqué hearts to make 'novelty' boxers, sewing sleeves in a kimono, and painting sunglasses,
On Tuesday, I saw about 20 minutes of the tech rehearsal, as I was mostly working on alterations, etc, but did get to watch the dress rehearsal on Wednesday. There were a few small makes and changes on the Wednesday, but it was mostly making sure everything was ready for the opening show that night. With Rae, I ironed all the shirts and lab coats, as everyone checked the rails were organised for the actors later.

Overall, I found this tech week well organised and quite calm compared to some others, so it was enjoyable and we could sew and make at a fairly relaxed pace even though there was always something to do. I thought we worked really well together as a whole team, with everyone taking tasks off the list and asking for other people's help if they needed.
